You're Invited: Community Flute Choir

Happy Thanksgiving week, flutists! I hope you get to enjoy many of your favorite foods and desserts this week.

You're invited to join our Community Flute Choir performance on December 3 at 2 pm!

Who Can Join

Flutists of ALL levels, ages 12+ are invited to join our community flute choir!

Last year we had a wonderful variety of about 30 flute players, including new beginners in 7th grade, community members, adults returning to the flute after time away, students of all kinds, professionals, and music educators!

Music

Our three pieces are not overly difficult to learn, and are a LOT of fun! They're intermediate-level pieces, but if you’re worried about the music being too challenging, I’m happy to send you simplified parts so you can relax and enjoy playing with us!

We’ll be playing Christmas Fantasy by Ricky Lombardo, Fantomas by Eugene Magalif, and a jazzy rendition of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer arranged by Calvin Custer.

Rehearsals

There are a couple of rehearsal options to choose between, or you are welcome to attend them all. The dress rehearsal on the day of the concert is required so we have a chance to play with everyone in a group before the concert!

  • Rehearsal Option 1: Sunday, Nov. 26 from 3-4:15 pm (A-State Choir Room)
  • Rehearsal Option 2: Tuesday, Nov. 28 from 7-8:15 pm (A-State Choir Room)
  • Dress Rehearsal (Required): Sunday, Dec. 3 at 1 pm (First Presbyterian Church)

Community Performance: Sunday, Dec. 3 at 2 pm (free!)

  • First Presbyterian Church of Jonesboro: 710 Southwest Dr, Jonesboro, AR 72401

Frequently Asked Questions

Please email Stephanie Hoeckley if you have any questions not listed here!

I'm worried the music will be too difficult. Should I register?

Please join us! The purpose of this ensemble is to have fun playing with flutists in NE Arkansas and to share our music with friends and family. The music is an intermediate level and simplified parts are available. Perfection is not required!

I'm not able to stand for the performance, is this okay?

Absolutely! The ensemble will be sitting for the rehearsals and concert this year to accommodate players of all types.

How much does it cost?

Registration is free, but the suggested donation is $5-10 if you can help support our flute program at A-State!
