🎵 A-State Flute Studio | Spring Newsletter 🎵

Reader,

I hope you've had a wonderful Spring Break and are enjoying the warmer temperatures this week! In this newsletter, the A-State Flute Studio is excited to invite you to attend our first-ever Flute & Clarinet Day and our upcoming Flute Studio Showcase concert!

Mark your calendars for our upcoming events!

  • Flute & Clarinet Day - Saturday, 4/1 from 12-6 pm in the Recital Hall (yes, we have a fun April Fool's Day prank planned!)
  • Molly Wakefield's Flute Recital - Thursday, 4/4 at 5 pm in the Recital Hall
  • Flute Studio Showcase Recital - Thursday, 4/13 at 5 pm in the Recital Hall

Stay tuned for a couple of other student recitals in April, as well!

Flute and Clarinet Day

Join us next Saturday, April 1 from 12-6 pm for our first-ever Flute & Clarinet Day! This FREE event is open to 9-12th grade flutists and clarinetists and community members. Music educators are welcome, too!

Workshops

The day includes workshops and performances where we will explore the art of warming up and extended techniques like pitch bends and beatboxing. You'll leave with creative new ways to make your practice fun and strategies to continue improving your tone quality, air support/intonation, and double tonguing on the flute. We're so excited to help you level up your skills and musicianship!

Performances

The day will close with a Community Recital at 5 pm, which will include the Flute & Clarinet Day flute/clarinet choirs, plus performances by A-State students, Dr. Cameron, and Dr. Hoeckley. It's an event you won't want to miss!

Sign up soon - the registration deadline is March 27!

Future Red Wolves

Are you interested in playing in the ensembles at A-State or majoring/minoring in music? It's not too late to earn a scholarship!

Sign up for an alternative audition date and Dr. Hoeckley will reach out to schedule an audition date that works in your schedule.

How to Help

Flutists at A-State often find it difficult to afford music opportunities farther from home. Your support is always appreciated because it helps students participate in events like the National Flute Convention, regional competitions, and summer music festivals!
