Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays from the A-State Flute Studio!

Thank you all for supporting the A-State Flute Studio in 2022! We wish you a wonderful holiday season full of joy, laughter, and music!

Recap of 2022

Holiday Flute Choir

A HUGE thank you to everyone who played in our Community Flute Choir's holiday performance! It was so much fun performing before the Jonesboro Community Wind Ensemble for an enthusiastic audience of friends and family!

There's nothing better than flutists of all kinds joining forces to create music. I'm proud to be a part of the flute community in NE Arkansas - it's a vibrant, inspiring, and talented group of musicians. Thanks for sharing your talents and artistry!

Please keep an eye out for more community flute choir opportunities in 2023!

All-Region Etude Clinic

22 senior high flutists visited campus to improve their All-Region scales, thirds, and etudes with Dr. Hoeckley. We explored freer ways to breathe, how to create resonance, double tonguing clearly and efficiently, mindset tips for keeping those natural jitters under control, and more!

Best of luck to all who are auditioning in January!! (Don't forget to email me if you'd like a lesson before your audition! shoeckley@astate.edu)

Proud of Our Performances

A-State flutists performed in all kinds of ensembles this year! Flutists in the Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Winds showcased their artistry beautifully. Their last concert featured gorgeous flute and piccolo solos from Brittney Ditto, Eren Ernes, Jenny Strano, and Milan Davidson!

The flute majors left it all on the stage in their Tuesday Morning Recital solo performances and the Flute Ensemble recital - we're excited to bring our "Characters" program to local high schools in 2023!

Chamber Music

Rachel Ivy and Eren Ernes mixed up their collaborations in mixed-instrument chamber ensembles! Rachel and the Howling Winds wind quintet made their debut at the Chamber Ensemble Recital with a beautiful Baroque work by Henry Purcell and Eren performed a delightfully quirky piece (in a variety of fun hats) with oboe & piano!

With Gratitude

I'm so blessed to work with such wonderful flutists and human beings at A-State and in the Arkansas music community. Many thanks to my students and the flutists and music educators I've seen this year for being such a joy to be around! If I can ever be of service to you, please let me know!

Happy holidays to you and your friends and family! Cheers to an even better 2023!

Wolves up,
